Change of Address

What happens if I move (change address) while my immigration application is pending?

If you have a pending application with USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) and you have recently moved, you are able to make an address change through your online account with USCIS or submitting form AR-11 online. Form AR-11 is found on the USCIS.gov web page. If you submit form AR-11 you will need to specify which applications are pending with USCIS.

If you have submitted an application with USCIS on the basis of being a victim of domestic violence, trafficking, or other crimes, you will need to mail your AR-11 form. For important information and instructions, please visit the USCIS.gov web page and search “How to change your address” on the search engine.

Be aware that there are occasions in which you may need to do more than just submit form AR-11. In the instance you have a pending court case, you will need to not only change your address with USCIS but also change it with USPS (United States Postal Service) and EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review). To do this you will need to file Form EOIR-33, for more information and special instructions on how to do this you will need to visit justice.gov web page and type in the search engine, “Form EOIR-33”.

It is encouraged to inform USCIS of your address change as soon as possible so that you may not miss out on important information they will attempt to correspond to you. It is required for you to report to EOIR that you have changed your address within five working days of having moved, if you have a pending court case.
